Honda Opens New American Plant

As the Detroit Three struggle with the economy and seek a bailout, one car company is opening another car plant for business and turning it up a notch. Honda is opening another American plant.

In southeast Indiana, over a thousand workers are cheering the opening of a brand new automotive plant that should provide plenty of work for the region. It was a solid reminder that the automotive industry in America extends beyond the region of Detroit and most certainly extends beyond the traditional Big Detroit Three: Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler.

“Is this Civic an American-built automobile?” Greensburg Mayor Gary Herbert said as the plant displayed a brand new Honda Civic sedan. The crowd returned a cheer in the affirmative.

It is interesting to see the rise of such a plant in America’s farming heartland with other car companies struggling to maintain employees and keep businesses open. It seems that we are hearing abotu car factory layoffs each and every day amongst companies like GM or Ford. Buyouts of contracts and diminished schedules are certainly news items that are reported frequently.

But it seems that Honda is floating in the other direction. And while Honda is not necessarily changing the tide of the industry, their smart business moves and job opportunities are making several people very happy. From the plant in Indiana to the local Doylestown Honda dealer, business is good for the time being.

Genesis Offers Luxury For Less

It is perhaps interesting to note that many drivers are opting for cars of the more affordable variety these days. Of course, that’s not to say that it should be surprising. The economy is certainly throwing many people for a loop, but the natural Western desire for luxury has not fallen prey to that. Instead, people are looking for what is known as “luxury for less.” Whether it’s a steak sandwich from a fast food restaurant or a luxury car that comes with a much more affordable price tag, people are still finding ways to live the high life without sacrificing their pocket book.

And that’s where the Hyundai Genesis comes in. The Hyundai Genesis, retailing for around $40,000, is today’s best bet for a luxury vehicle at a not-so-luxurious price. With an affordable ticket and tons of bells and whistles designed for the purposes of offering the driver tremendous and copious amounts of wealthy comfort, you can bet that many more people will be turning to this Genesis before spending money on a BMW or Benz.

And that’s tremendous news for Hyundai, whose attention to detail has helped produce a luxury car with a difference. The Genesis isn’t only more affordable, but it also stands up to all the testing and even competes head to head with its much more expensive counterparts in a number of important categories.

Hyundai Goes Cautious

In these strained economic times, car companies are taking it easy (to say the least). They are making cautious business decisions and ensuring that they have all of the information before making any sudden moves. Operating a car company in this economic climate is a little like trying to attract a small animal. Any sudden, unprepared moves might wind up scaring it away.

That’s why Hyundai is choosing to monitor the markets for the next few weeks and determine after careful study if any market cuts or production cuts will need to be made. By not simply reacting to the markets, Hyundai is giving its shareholders, customers, and workers a fighting chance.

Hyundai is also preparing to not meet some of its production targets, especially in global markets like India. The car company is preparing to come up slightly short on production goals and, as such, has adjusted its projections to match the new information. Any car company worth its salt will follow the same business plans that Hyundai is laying out. They are deciding things based on information, not a simple economic turn.

So if you’re interested in a car company that prepares for its economic situations with information and hard facts, Hyundai is the one for you. Test drive your favourite vehicle at Pottstown Hyundai dealer today and see what you’ve been missing.

Honda Pressures Detroit Three

By opening a new plant in Indiana, Honda is putting the gears on the Detroit Three (Ford, General Motors, Chrysler) in terms of making efficient small cars. With the plant seen as a way of Honda entering the United States domestic production market, the Detroit Three will need to pull themselves up even further by their bootstraps and start producing smaller cars for today’s American families.

Honda has long led the charge in efficient vehicles and the Civic factory set to open in Greensburg, Indiana, is another step in the right direction. With sales of the hybrids and smaller vehicles going up and sales of big, clunky trucks and SUVs sinking like a stone, you can bet that the Detroit Three would benefit from a more vested interest in making smaller better cars.

Analysts are suggesting that consumer demand for smaller cars isn’t just a fad but that the future of cars will be heading in smaller directions for a good long while. Most are suggesting that it will be a long time before big cars come back into fashion and efficiency will replace yesterday’s fads of speed and power.

For today’s drivers, that means a shift in the right direction. Small cars are better on gas and help the environment. For more on a small car you and your family can get behind, drop by your local Pottstown Honda dealer today.

Hyundai and Prada? You Betcha.

The Devil might wear Prada, but it turns out that Hyundai might be into the stuff soon enough as well. Hyundai, the South Korean automaker on the rise yet again with its dedication to innovation, is joining with Italian fashion label Prada, a company mostly famous for luxury goods for men and women at exorbidant prices and alarming costs, to create three special edition Genesis sedans.

Now before you ask yourself “What, Gucci wasn’t available? Was Dolce & Gabbana off that day?” it is important to realize that this deal really does make sense. Prada and Hyundai go together like, well, peas and carrots. Or like Dolce & Gabbana? Or…

The three Genesis sedans will, according to the snooty press release, “combine the best technology and industrial design with quality materials, craftsmanship and an innovative new approach aimed at creating a new driving experience.”

The first of the new Genesis Prada sedans will be unveiled in 2009 at the Seoul Motor Show. A model will also be displayed at Hyundai’s headquarters in South Korea (a model of the Genesis sedan, not a model ie. Tyra Banks). With this combination certainly raising some eyebrows in both the vehicle world and the fashion world, there really is only one conclusion to be reached. Hyundai is trying to attach a form of luxury to its latest incarnations of the Genesis. With the early reviews being largely positive and now this connection with Prada in full swing, it looks like they’ll accomplish their promotional goals.

Getting Fit with Honda

I’ll tell you the truth right now. Just between you, me, and the lamp post, I’ve always been more comfortable in a vehicle that doesn’t insult my intelligence or think I need it. You know the type, the muscle cars with roaring engines and gas-guzzling systems that require my attention and my prodding 24/7. I can’t be bothered with these high-maintenance machines. I’ve got better things to do.

That’s why the 2009 Honda Fit is the car for me. Yep, I’ve made up my mind.

After scoping several reviews, I’m seriously contemplating a test drive of one of these beauties. It has everything I need in a car, from ample space to great fuel economy. And it doesn’t insult my intelligence by needing a lot of maintenance or care or attention. It’s a car, not a date. It does what it’s supposed to do, giving me a lot of fun from the Sport model and offering an aerodynamic profile worth looking twice at. Yes, it helps that the 2009 Honda Fit is a great-looking car, but the best part is that it functions like a dream.

The car drives with snap and sizzle, yet never feels like a sweaty gas hog. The smooth 2009 Honda Fit is smart, plain and simple, and you’ll feel smarter just by driving one. Hop on down to your local Doylestown Honda dealer today and take a test drive. Don’t forget to tell your old car you’ll miss it. (Lie if you have to).

Hyundai Opens First European Plant

Today is a day of firsts for Hyundai, the South Korean automaker whose status in the world has been steadily increasing. Monday marked the official opening of a $1.3 billion car plant in the Czech Republic, marking Hyundai’s first production facility in Europe.

The plant is expected to create 3,400 jobs for people near the eastern town of Nosovice. The output of the factory is expected to be around 300,000 cars a year by 2011, with the majority of the output headed straight for European markets. This will allow Hyundai to keep a closer eye on the region and will help grow the operation in Europe with faster supply routes to meet demand and better production geared specifically for the demands of the area.

In other words, it’s a big win for Hyundai.

Trial production had begun at the plant a week ago to ensure that things would work out smoothly. Official opening ceremonies and celebrations were held today, however, as the final arrangements were made to officially open the doors of the plant.

Hyundai aims to expand further into Europe with a plant designated for St. Petersburg in Russia sometime next year.

As a growing company, it is comforting to know that Hyundai still has time for the smaller communities of the world. From the plant in the Czech Republic to the Lansdale Hyundai dealer, this is a car company that knows that its people make all the difference in the world.

Honda Hits New Sales Record Down Under

While it may be a long way away from your local Lansdale Honda dealer, Honda is making some waves in Australia in terms of sales. While other car companies suffer and the likes of Toyota and Ford aren’t doing so well down under, Honda is actually doing rather well and actually recorded its all-time best sales figures for the month of October.

Say what?

It’s true. In the economc tumult of our times, Honda has vaulted ahead of Ford, GM, Toyota, Hyundai, and every other car company in Australia to post an all-time best October sales record. Analysts suggest that the record is due to large-scale sales of the Honda Civic and the new Accord Euro and Honda Jazz. The cars, which have been smaller and more fuel-efficient, outdo their rivals in many fields.

With smarter consumers and a greater concern on environmental issues, the car company that pays the most attention to what its customer base wants it the car company that will succeed. Honda has proven that in Australia.

Honda is confident that it has the right mix of vehicles for its customer base, which sets the bar pretty high for competition in Australia. It will be interesting to watch the markets and see what type of competition steps in to try to dethrone Honda at this point.

Hyundai Pretends It’s Not Interested

Hyundai Motor Co. denied any interest in Chrysler’s assets. Instead, the South Korean automaker said that it was focusing the bulk of its energy on completing construction of its many overseas plants.

Early on Friday, Reuters news outlet reported that Hyundai had had talks with Chrysler LLC owner Cerberus Capital Management about a potential acquisition of the struggling U.S. automaker’s Jeep brand and possibly other assets to be named later. In response, Hyundai brushed it off.

“We have no interest in whatsoever in acquiring Chrysler, including Jeep and have not engaged in any discussions with Cerberus on this matter,” Hyundai Motor spokesman Jake Jang said. He added that he felt that Hyundai Motor had its “hands full” with the business at hand. This may be a smart move for Hyundai, as the car company doubtlessly wants to ensure that current operations are going according to plan within a climate of economic uncertainty.

This shows measured restraint for the car company, as many other companies might have jumped at such an acquisition. By measuring out its involvement, Hyundai shows that it cares more about the tasks at hand and about protecting its current product.

Honda Helps You Walk

We dedicate the majority of our postings to what Honda is doing in the world of cars, trucks, and motorcycles. But every so often a story comes along that shows just how diverse Honda is and how exciting it can be to mix it up every so often. Honda has proven itself to be more than just a car company.

Honda has developed what is being dubbed in some circles as a Robot Walker, a device that assists in the art of walking by providing ample support and defers some of the weight from the legs of the walker. The person doing the walking still does the walking, naturally, but the Honda machine uses weight redistribution to make sure that less pressure is put on the body and more of the body’s muscle energy can be firmly dedicated to walking.

The Honda walking aid functions as a person steps into the device shoes and leans back into the high seat. Honda does the rest by supporting a large portion of the person’s body weight during walking, stair-climbing, or, yes, even squatting.

The seat level can be adjusted for various levels, making the device the perfect versatile tool for those in need of a little assistance.
