Are you looking for something fun that your kids can do this holiday season? Your Allentown auto dealers want to give you some ideas that will amaze both kids and adults without breaking your budget.

The Please Touch Museum is one of these ideas. This one-of-a-kind place is meant for kids up to seven years old, but you will undoubtedly enjoy the exhibits and displays on hand as well. The Please Touch Museum has been dazzling kids and adults for more than 20 years, but it recently moved to its new home to Memorial Hall in the heart of Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.

The museum is an award-winning children’s museum with tons of hands-on displays that showcase how science works. But there are many other exhibits and displays, too. One unique exhibit is the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland where kids can play games with the Queen and “sip tea with the Mad Hatter.” After that, kids can take a ride along a miniature Delaware River and enjoy the Please Touch Playhouse performances that are interactive and exciting.

When you’re done at the Please Touch Museum, you can take your kids to a Lansdale area Hyundai dealer for some excitement of your own. Look at the new features and cars in the inventory and have a unique experience all your own!

U.S. Vehicles Sales at 26-Year Low

Bad news continues in the United States during these times, as recent reports have showed that U.S. vehicle sales have hit a 26-year low. To perhaps accent this problematic point, Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Honda reported U.S. sales drops of more than 30% in November.

This is a decline felt across the board, as no automaker seems immune to the destructive economy. Each is experiencing drops in sales and the need to cut production, which is turning the car industry into a game of survival the likes of which most have never seen. Car companies are needing to cut jobs, minimize damage, and move units all at once. There is simply no time for damage control.

In terms of Honda, specifically, Honda dealer outlets, whether selling Allentown cars or dealerships from Pottstown and beyond, have experienced slumping sales that have had owners re-thinking the entire process of selling cars. New tools are needed for the trade, as sales are damaging local economies and leading to job loss and wasted inventory.

Perhaps Honda and its dealer outlets can gain some respite with the notion that theirs is the “best of the worst” in terms of struggles. Many foreign car companies are doing rather well in contrast to American and local companies, where the refusal to play catch up with the tide of small cars and environmentally-friendly vehicles is costing them now more than ever.

Hyundai Automotive Plans to Boost Sales

This probably doesn’t come as a big surprise to anybody with a minimum of business sense, but Hyundai automotive wants to increase its sales figures in 2009. Who doesn’t, right?

But judging from the past success of Hyundai automotive, the fifth largest automaker in the world is poised to make this exciting goal happen. Hyundai automotive, along with its Kia Motor Corporation affiliate, has targeted sales of more than three million vehicles for next year. Compare that with about 2.8 million targeted sales for 2008. That’s a nine percent increase.

Leave it to Hyundai to set such lofty goals in such an uncertain economy. But that’s exactly what has made Hyundai Automotive what it is today. The automaker isn’t afraid of taking risks and this is just the latest example about how the company officials make goals in hopes of reaching them. Even if the company does not reach the nine percent increase, it’s good to know that they believe in their product so heavily that they are willing to set these goals.

Reuters reported this story on December 4, quoting a local news provider as the source.

Local Dealers Want Swift Action

With the economic crisis gripping the automotive industry, it is easy to forget all about the little guy and the individual dealers. Car companies might be slipping into factory slowdowns and production cuts to make room for more economic capital, but most individual dealership outlets don’t have those options and need to continue to push cars off of the lots at all costs.

Workers and dealership owners are hoping that car companies will accept some sort of bailout or government loan offer and that Congress will hurry the process along, as two months of some of the lowest sales on record have more than done some damage to the industry.

The owners of the dealerships have stressed that good news for any car company is good news for all. ”We’re all in this together,” said Sam Pack, owner of the Five Star Ford dealerships in North Richland Hills and Carrollton in Texas. “If we can get some good news about GM and it addresses the consumer-confidence issue, that will help all of us.”

All dealerships are struggling during this time and are having trouble moving units off of the lots. This has resulted in layoffs of salespeople and car detailers across the board, which in turn impacts local economies. Whether Five Star Ford dealerships in Texas or a Doylestown Honda dealer, the top-to-bottom of car companies are struggling during these times.

Honda Canada Scaling Back Production

As Christmas approaches, a slowdown in consumer demand is pushing many car companies to make their holiday shutdown plans a bit sooner. Honda, who has not been immune to the slowdown in the economy as of late, is one of many car companies scaling back production. Canada seems to be a more than fertile ground for  scaling back work production, as the car company hopes to recover some of its losses before the close of the year.

“The current sales market in North America is acutely challenging for everybody. We always keep an eye on our dealer inventory to make adjustments as they’re required, so that’s why we’re doing it,” said Honda spokesperson Colin Fisher.

Honda Canada usually shuts down production on December 24 until the start of the New Year, but this year’s production will close down two days earlier on December 22. Honda is also canceling previously scheduled weekend overtime hours in January.

Honda workers are given options as to what they can do with the two extra days off. They can use vacation days or lieu time, or they can take unpaid leave without affecting their bonus. Associates can also report to work, and will be assigned non-production related jobs, such as possibly painting or cleaning.

The production shutdowns will probably occur across the board into the United States as well. As to what impact, if any, this will have on local dealerships like the Lansdale Honda dealer or others, that certainly remains to be seen.

Allentown Auto Dealers Congratulate Hyundai

Although the Hyundai brand is straight from South Korea, a plant in Alabama manufactures and produces many Hyundai models. Several of these models recently won awards for their safety and your Allentown auto dealers want to recognize that achievement.

The Hyundai Santa Fe was one of the three models that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) picked for its Top Safety Pick award this year. The other two models were the Veracruz and the Entourage.

The IIHS bases its award decisions on a vehicle’s ability to protect the occupants in all areas of the car in the event of a collision. The researchers study “injuries” to crash test dummies, restraint performance and overall structural performance when making their decision. They also look at other features that the vehicles may have to help prevent accidents.

“The Santa Fe’s selection as a Top Safety Pick is regarded as one of the highest accolades an automobile brand can receive and this recognition helps to define Hyundai’s safety and quality value to the customer,” said Chris Susock, the director of quality assurance at the Montgomery, Alabama Hyundai plant.

Winning these awards is nothing new for Hyundai, though. The Santa Fe and Veracruz have won the same award twice now and this was the Entourage’s fourth time wining the top safety award. Now that you know, why not visit your Doylestown area Hyundai dealer today? Don’t you owe it to your family?
