Your PA dealers thought this was a truly unique story that happened in the Allentown area earlier this week. Scott Witmer, a 44-year-old resident of Allen Township was pulled over for drunken driver. He pleaded guilty yesterday for driving under the influence of alcohol, but that plea came days after he claimed the court had no jurisdiction over him because he is a “sovereign man.” As such, he “lives inside himself” rather than in the state of Pennsylvania.

Witmer could face up to six months in jail for his offense when he finally receives his sentence on May 15. He said he didn’t think his “sovereign man” defense would work, but he felt he “had the right to see what the Constitution has to offer.” The incident occurred on August 24 when he drove away from home following a domestic dispute. The officer that pulled him over said he was so intoxicated that he could barely stand up.

Police detectives in Tacoma, Washington will soon be driving around in hybrids while investigating their cases, according to The News Tribune. The department plans to add four hybrid vehicles to its fleet of unmarked cars. The city already has 45 hybrid cars in various departments, including the Tacoma Public Utilities and the Tacoma Fire Department. Three of the new hybrids will be Toyota Priuses. Officials hope the new additions to the fleet will help the city save money while being more eco-conscious.

“I am optimistic and hopeful about this program,” said Officer Scott Bogue. The money for the hybrids came from a fund that they police department has in which they put away money each month to replace cars once they reach their 10-year life cycle.
