Wiper blades are definitely one of those things you normally don’t think about unless it’s raining. The problem is that when it’s raining it’s usually too late to change them. The need for visibility while driving any vehicle is pretty obvious, so it won’t be explained here. If you’re not sure why visibility is important, please walk to your nearest DMV and surrender your license.

When to Change Your Hyundai’s Wiper Blades

You should change the wiper blades on your Hyundai car every 6 months. One easier reminder is to change them at the same time you change your clock for daylight savings time. The 6 month time period is meant as a maximum time period. If your Hyundai wipers show signs of needing replacement, please don’t wait until daylight savings time.

Here are some signs that your wipers need replacing

Streaking: If the wipers are leaving streaks on your windshield, this is usually caused by some kind of substance (road tar, tree sap, etc) stuck to the wiper. The substance may be removed, or you may need to replace the wiper.

Bouncing: “Bouncing” occurs when the wiper bounces along the windshield instead of making a clean arc. Usually this results when the wiper blade develops additional curve which can happen if it’s spent too much time parked against the windshield.

Worn Rubber or Split Rubber: Over time and use your Hyundai’s wipers blades will wear and lose rubber. As well, the rubber may split due to age and the ultraviolet rays of the sun. In this case the blades should be replaced. Bent or Damaged Wiper Frame: Sometime due to ice scrapers, car washes, or just plain vandalism the actual wiper frame itself will get damaged. This is a definite replacement situation.

What to Know When Replacing Your Wiper Blades

To replace your Hyundai’s wiper blades, you need only know the make, model, and year of your vehicle. You can visit an auto parts store or take your car into your Lehigh Valley Hyundai dealership. The auto parts store should have a catalogue to let you know which make of wiper to purchase.

Wipers have three basic parts: the arm, the wiper which holds the blade, and the rubber blade itself. All three can be replaced, but often only the rubber blade needs to be replaced.

A final word on windshield wipers: while it is important to ensure your windshield wipers are in good condition, don’t forget the windshield fluid. This is also something we often don’t think of until we need it, but you don’t want to find yourself in a situation where you need it but have run out.

Your Hyundai’s battery does a lot for your car, from helping it start to operating all of the electrical systems in your car. This is especially important today, as most cars rely on highly-specialized electronics to help them get down the road.

Unfortunately, the posts on your Hyundai’s battery are a wonderful breeding ground for corrosion. This corrosion looks like a crusty white residue located around the posts. As this corrosion builds up over time, it can interfere with the connection to your battery.

There are a number of cleaning products for your Hyundai car battery. Each has its own particular features, but the important thing is that they help to get your battery terminals clean.

Generally speaking, you need to remove your battery terminals to get them clean of corrosion. You will use wrenches to remove the negative battery cable first, and then the positive cable. If a cable is stuck, you can use a screwdriver to help pry the terminal open.

Once the terminals are free, it’s time to clean them. Apply the recommended amount of cleaning solution on the posts and terminals. Use a small brush to get rid of any stubborn corrosion. Once they’re clean, rinse them off and reinstall them, starting with the positive side.

Think you might need a new battery? Bring your car into your Lehigh Valley Hyundai car dealer today.

After years of use or thousands of miles of driving, brake problems are going to be inevitable. But do you know how to determine what the problem is without taking your Hyundai car to a mechanic? Here are some simple ways to diagnose your Hyundai brake problems to give you a better idea about what’s wrong so you can make an informed decision.

Squealing
If the brakes on your Hyundai vehicle squeal until you push on the brake, you have worn the pads down. The high-pitched squeal you hear is a little sensor that is designed to alert you so you know the pads have worn down and need to be changed.

Soft Braking
Soft braking refers to pushing on your brake pedal and having it go down before the brakes actually “kick in.” This is usually because of air bubbles in your brake line and can often be solved by bleeding the brakes. It could also be an indicator that you have a bad brake master cylinder.

Pulsating Brakes
When you push on your Hyundai brakes and they feel like they are pulsating, you probably have warped rotors. This can affect your stopping distance so it’s vital to have this checked.

These are just a few of the things that can go wrong with brakes. For more information or a complete checkup on your braking system, visit your Allentown Hyundai dealer today.

I mean, what other car company is willing to take back their vehicle if you lose your job within the first year of making payments? But I’ve underestimated Hyundai.

Officials at the fifth largest automaker in the world have decided to sweeten the proverbial pot with its return policy program. In addition to taking the car back with no questions asked (as long as you’ve lost your job involuntarily), Hyundai Assurance Plus “adds a one-time payment to the lender that is equal to 90 days of a loan or lease payment.” This means that you can still return the vehicle within a year of losing your job but the payments are not prorated and they do not have to be repaid even if you go back to work within those 90 days.

You can read more about the Hyundai Assurance Plus program here. Or you can visit your Pottstown area Hyundai dealer between now and April 30 to take advantage of this great program. With a program that protects you like this, what have you got to lose?

This year, Hyundai Automotive took the spotlight as the official sponsor of the 2009 Academy Awards. As such, the fifth largest automaker in the world shared the stage with a “who’s who” of A-List celebrities and even some B-Listers.

Since the awards show, the automaker has seen a spike in interest. Edmunds.com has reported an significant increase in people looking for information about Hyundai products and vehicles. In fact, visits to Hyundai pages on the Edmunds website are up by more than 25 percent over last week’s searches. Specifically, searches for the Genesis model – the car advertised in one of the ads during Oscars – have nearly doubled compared to last weekend’s searches.

The new popularity that Hyundai Automotive is receiving is not unwarranted. For years, Hyundai has had a low profile in the United States. However, with more and more car buyers being financially-conscious and Hyundai being known for its value, the automaker is taking advantage of the situation to get its name “out there.” One advertisement even focused on helping viewers pronounce the company’s name correctly, pointing out that it rhymes with “Sunday.”

Visit your Doylestown area Hyundai dealer today and see why people are becoming attracted to the various models and values. You’ll be happy you did!

Your Allentown auto dealers wanted to discuss a recent article about Americans driving less. We all know people drove less during last summer when gas prices were over $4 a gallon. But those trends continued through the end of 2008 and possibly for the beginning of 2009.

The Department of Transportation released new data that stated drivers drove about 3.7 billion fewer miles in December 2008 than they did in 2007. The results are indicative of how people are cutting back in many areas of their lives.

“The nation’s driving decline is another indication of just how important the president’s economic recovery plan is,” said Ray LaHood, the U.S. Transportation Secretary.

The biggest decline in driving occurred in the western states. A 4.8 percent decrease occurred in Washington and Oregon, but researchers attribute some of that dip to the large amount of snowfall in December. And even though the average number of miles has dropped nationwide, there are some states that report increased driving. Colorado drivers, for instance, drove about 5.4 percent more miles in December 2008 than they did in December 2007.

Other than the fact that it’s one of the best shows on television, you’ll also notice our hero driving a Hyundai to save the world!

Specifically, Jack Bauer is driving a Hyundai Genesis this season. Since the integration into the show began in November, Hyundai has reported the highest year-to-year increase in the entire industry with 24,512 vehicles sold. That’s a 14.3 percent increase since last January. Those are numbers that are all but unheard of in today’s economic times.

“Our partnership with…24 provides a tremendous 360-degree platform to showcase our new flagship, the Genesis sedan,” explained Chris Perry, the director of marketing communications for Hyundai Motor America. “The unique in-show integration ensures exposure when the audience is most involved with the TV series…but the extensions allow us to build a relationship with consumers in the real world.”

Do you want to feel like a terrorist-fighting hero, too? Then visit your Doylestown area Hyundai dealer today and get behind the wheel of a Hyundai Genesis sedan or one of the many other models available for you.

In an effort to reach out to new customers and existing customers with concerns, Hyundai Automotive CEO John Krafcik is going to host a live chat online tomorrow, February 17.

The live chat session will last one hour and you can log on and ask questions at HyundaiThinkTank.com. The website was created in November 2008 as a way to get consumers to respond the company and its products and brand. Currently, the website community has more than “700 members who either own a Hyundai vehicle or say they would consider buying one.”

According to Eileen Mahdi, the consumer insights manager for Hyundai Automotive, this is just the second in a series of monthly chats the automaker is going to host. The first chat session was held in January and features Michael Deitz, the product planner for the much talked about Hyundai Genesis sedan.

Hopefully, the chat sessions will make customers and potential customers feel more comfortable with the company and help the company connect with them. “We want to have a close connection with our customers so we can incorporate their feedback in all aspects of the business,” said Mahdi in an interview with Automotive News.

If you miss the chat or simply cannot log on during the event, you can always visit your Lansdale area Hyundai dealer and connect with them. They will listen to any concerns you may have as well and work hard to make you feel comfortable with the product you are considering buying.
