Honda Pressures Detroit Three

By opening a new plant in Indiana, Honda is putting the gears on the Detroit Three (Ford, General Motors, Chrysler) in terms of making efficient small cars. With the plant seen as a way of Honda entering the United States domestic production market, the Detroit Three will need to pull themselves up even further by their bootstraps and start producing smaller cars for today’s American families.

Honda has long led the charge in efficient vehicles and the Civic factory set to open in Greensburg, Indiana, is another step in the right direction. With sales of the hybrids and smaller vehicles going up and sales of big, clunky trucks and SUVs sinking like a stone, you can bet that the Detroit Three would benefit from a more vested interest in making smaller better cars.

Analysts are suggesting that consumer demand for smaller cars isn’t just a fad but that the future of cars will be heading in smaller directions for a good long while. Most are suggesting that it will be a long time before big cars come back into fashion and efficiency will replace yesterday’s fads of speed and power.

For today’s drivers, that means a shift in the right direction. Small cars are better on gas and help the environment. For more on a small car you and your family can get behind, drop by your local Pottstown Honda dealer today.
