Running on compressed natural gas, the Honda Civic GX is the only car of its kind to be sold in North America and dealerships are getting excited about the potential to sell it.
The GX first arrived way back in 1998 and appeared as a factory-modified Honda Civic that ran exactly like Honda’s most popular vehicle, with the exception being that it didn’t run on gasoline. Honda had its GX rated as the cleanest running vehicle engine in the world by the EPA in 2001.
The City of Los Angeles got their hands on the Honda Civic GX first, as the vehicle was dispatched for use by parking enforcement officers and other city employees as a form of a live beta test.
In 2006, the Honda Civic GX was equipped with an automatic five-speed transmission, which opened the vehicle up to more driveability and possibility. Its range also extended to 250 miles, which was excellent news for the manufacturer. That same year, the Honda Civic GX was put on the market in New York City, marking the second city in North America that the car was able to be sold.
Fast-forward to 2008 and dealerships across the country are trying to get a hold of the GX. Allentown auto dealers are no exception, with Honda dealer outlets hoping to be granted the ability to sell the Honda Civic GX as soon as possible. Keep in touch with your local dealer for more information about this excellent opportunity to drive a cleaner, more efficient car.
