Hyundai Exporting the i10 to United States

With the United States market looking for some new blood and the American consumers in dire need of something hopeful, Hyundai is hoping to turn the tide by exporting its popular i10 from India to the United States dealerships.

The company is currently reviewing its options in terms of exporting the i10 over to the American domestic market in hopes that the vehicle will sell as well in America as it does in India. The car is currently India’s premium hatchback model and represents the top of the line for Hyundai in the country. The automaker is hoping for more of the same in the United States, but may be underestimating the current economic downturn and may have more work to do in exporting then originally thought possible.

The idea originally was to bring the i10 to the United States to correspond with the company’s 10th Anniversary. There are some logistical particulars to consider, as well as some issues involved with the actual exporting. But for the most part, Hyundai execs in India are satisfied that the rising costs of fuel in the United States will make the compact car a pretty nice fit for many families.

The company currently exports the i10 to nearly 96 countries internationally. It has refrained from selling in the United States due to poor demand in the sector and overwhelming competition. But with the changing markets in the U.S., it may not be long before the i10 makes its arrival at a local Hyundai dealer.
