All about the New Toyota Tundra Pickup Truck

toyota dealersThe new Toyota Tundra is going to be an exciting new offering from the largest automaker in the world. What is going to make it more exciting, you ask? The fact that these Toyota trucks are going to be available in a hybrid version makes this an exciting new product!

According to this current Toyota Tundra owner, the current gas-powered version is already his favorite vehicle and he simply cannot wait until the more efficient version hits dealer lots across the country.

Unfortunately, the hybrid version of the Toyota Tundra may not be available until 2013 or 2014. Although details are few and rumors are rampant, those in “the know” think Toyota wants to make the Tundra a lithium-powered truck. That may be one reason why these Toyota trucks will not be available for a few years because of the delay in lithium batteries.

The new Tundra will feature a number of features to make it more efficient, such as a 4.7L V8 engine with 400 horsepower combined with a hybrid system that achieves 20 miles to the gallon in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. It will also be more lightweight to make it more efficient. Few other changes have been finalized. Either way, it’s going to be an exciting release when it finally gets produced! Keeping Your Toyota Cars Running Smoothly for Years

toyota carsToday’s Toyota cars and trucks are made with quality parts and workmanship that helps them last for many years. If taken care of, your Toyota cars could go for hundreds of thousands of miles before finally breaking down. Aside from the scheduled maintenance procedures, here are some other things you can do to make sure your Toyota cars serve you for years to come.

1. Keep gas in the tank. Running your car on almost empty can clog and even damage your fuel system. When the gas tank is too close to being dry, the particles and debris get sucked up into the fuel line. You don’t usually think about this until the fuel system fails and you are stranded somewhere.
2. Listen to your car. Squeaks, vibrations and unusual smells are good clues that something is going wrong. Car problems are inevitable from time to time but the sooner you catch a problem, the easier it is to fix. It’s also cheaper if you catch the problem before it becomes too big.
3. Keep your tires inflated properly. Tires with too little pressure make the engine work harder and reduce your gas mileage dramatically. They may also cause alignment problems. Make sure your tires have enough air pressure for smooth riding.

Use these tips and some common sense and your Toyota cars will last for many, many years.

Toyota Cars Came Out on Top of CARS Program

toyota carsIn case you’re wondering which automaker fared the best during the “Cash for Clunkers” program, it was Toyota. But more specifically, the Corolla was the most popular of the Toyota cars during the unprecedented event.

The data comes from last month before the program was closed, but the count shows that the sales for the Corolla were far beyond those of the U.S. automakers and other major competitors in the industry. Not only that but U.S. cars fill out the list of the 10 most traded-in vehicles while non-U.S. products hold eight of the top 10 purchased vehicles.

The program officially kicked off on July 27 and it was supposed to go through November 1. However, the government did not anticipate the popularity of the program and it almost came to an end after the first week because it ran out of money. After moving some money around and adding a couple billion more dollars to the program, the program was able to stay in effect for a couple more weeks.

Toyota holds three of the top 10 spots on the list of cars that consumers purchased. It just goes to show that consumers recognize the superior quality of Toyota cars when it comes time to invest in something that is more efficient than their current vehicle.

Is the Fifth Generation 4Runner on Its Way?

toyota trucksThe 4Runner is one of those Toyota trucks that appeals to a wide audience because of its style and practicality. Toyota has already produced four generations of this popular vehicle and it has been releasing information about the fifth generation that may be on its way. The previous four generations have sold more than 1.8 million units since its introduction in 1984. More than 70 percent of those units are still on the road. That says something for its durability!

The fifth generation 4Runner is going to make its debut at the Texas State Fair between September 25 and October 18. According to a press release about the world debut, the newest 4Runner is “more rugged than ever” and it offers “sure-footed off-road capability and increased comfort with added roominess.” The last major redesign efforts occurred in 2003 and Toyota has made great improvements in technology, safety features and comfort since then.

If you’re in the Dallas, Texas area during the state’s fair, be sure to check out the debut of the newest Toyota 4Runner. We’ll keep an eye on these Toyota trucks and let you know when they will be available on dealer lots in the Langhorne, PA area.

Get Five-Year Leases on Toyota Cars

toyota carsWith all the fuss over the cash incentives and rebates through the “cash for clunkers” program, few people have mentioned the option of leasing. Maybe that’s because most dealers and automakers do not want to offer the leases for the five years required by the program. But you can get these five-year leases on Toyota cars as the world’s largest automaker is ready to offer this deal in compliance with the CARS program.

Toyota has announced several models under the 60-month leasing program. Those models include the Yaris, Camry, Corolla, RAV4 and the Toyota Tacoma. If you wanted to lease a Yaris, for example, you could have monthly payments of about $80 if you put a $5,229 down payment at purchase. The good news is if you qualify for the $4,500 voucher from the federal government, you would only need a down payment of $729.

The lease offers are different depending on individual dealers and regions. The best thing to do is visit your local Toyota dealer to see what is available where you live. With prices like these on Toyota cars, get there as soon as possible because they simply won’t last!

Using GPS in New Jersey Could Be Illegal

new jerseyDo you have a GPS device in your Toyota cars? If so, you may not be able to use it while driving through New Jersey. While many states are proposing a ban on cell phones and texting while behind the wheel, New Jersey has turned its focus to GPS devices.

Democrat L. Harvey Smith introduced a bill earlier this summer that would penalize drivers who were caught operating a GPS device while driving. The only exception to this regulation would be the voice-activated units. Offenders would be given $100 fine.

To me, the legislation falls short. I do not agree with this type of far-reaching law, but many proponents of the cell phone ban say the problem is not with the actual phone, but the fact that a conversation with another person is a major distraction. As such, hands-free phones are not really any safer than handheld phones. It seems the same would hold true with voice-activated GPS devices. The actual distraction would be trying to get the device to do what you need it to do even if your hands are nowhere near it.

What’s next? Are drivers going to be fined if they are caught changing the radio station while driving down the road? Will they get penalized if they look out their window and to look for an address or appreciate a beautiful sunset? I hate to say that the cell phone ban was a “slippery slope,” but I’m afraid it is going to lead to many, many more laws that take away a driver’s judgment.

Will Toyota Cars Get More Safety Features?

new jerseyThe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is considering two new safety requirements for new cars being put on the roadways. The first safety feature warns drivers when they are leaving their lane. This may come in handy when a driver is fatigued or distracted when they are behind the wheel. The other feature enables the car to brake before a crash occurs.

According to safety experts with the organization, the two systems could save about 40,000 lives each year and reduce the number of traffic-related injuries by more than 2.5 million.

The “forward-collision warning system,” which enables the car to stop before hitting another car in the rear, alerts drivers that they are approaching a vehicle or object in front of them. If the driver ignores the warning and does not push the brakes, the car automatically does it for the driver.

If the new regulations are approved, the new safety features may be required for any Toyota cars and other vehicles from model years 2011 and beyond.

How do you feel about this type of regulation? Is it the NHTSA sticking its nose in where it does not belong or is anything that saves lives worth it? Let us know your thoughts below.
