Tacoma Detectives Getting Hybrids

toyota dealersThere are a number of stories about city officials and other important people getting hybrids for their daily errands and business-related trips. This story is the latest in that list.

Police detectives in Tacoma, Washington will soon be driving around in hybrids while investigating their cases, according to The News Tribune. The department plans to add four hybrid vehicles to its fleet of unmarked cars. However, these hybrids will be equipped with emergency lights and other features that detectives often need when out on the streets.

The city already has 45 hybrid cars in various departments, including the Tacoma Public Utilities and the Tacoma Fire Department. Three of the new hybrids will be Toyota Priuses. Officials hope the new additions to the fleet will help the city save money while being more eco-conscious.

“I am optimistic and hopeful about this program,” said Officer Scott Bogue. The money for the hybrids came from a fund that they police department has in which they put away money each month to replace cars once they reach their 10-year life cycle.

Why not do some investigating into the hybrid market yourself and see how much money you can save in the long run by purchasing a Toyota Prius or some other hybrid at your Doylestown area Toyota dealer?
