If you have not taken advantage of the federal government’s “cash for clunkers” program to get your new Toyota cars with a voucher, now is your chance.
The new program just went into effect on Friday and already some dealerships are saying they are running low on inventory. Some of that is due to the fact that automakers have not been producing as many cars as they were, but the main reason for the fast sales is the vouchers the government is offering that are worth up to $4,500.
In a nutshell, the cash-for-clunkers program offers car buyers an incentive to turn in their old gas guzzlers for newer, more efficient vehicles. The incentive typically ranges between $3,500 and $4,500 depending on what type of vehicle you are buying and the type you are turning in.
The newest Toyota cars on the market are ideal if you want to participate in the program. The new Prius, for example, gets about 40 miles to the gallon or more if conditions are right. The Corolla, Avalon and Scion are also more efficient vehicles than what you may have in your driveway right now.
