Toyota Hybrids become Top Priority

hybrid carsHybrids have been a priority for Toyota for several years. However, according to the Toyota Division General Manager Bob Carter, the automaker is going to put even more emphasis on Toyota hybrids in the coming months and years.

“It’s just a reprioritization of where we think the customer is today and where the customer is going to be in 24 and 36 months from now,” he said at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this month. He went on to talk about the FT-HS concept that Toyota had in mind for several years. The FT-HS was a hybrid vehicle with the appearance of a sports car. It was unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show and was expected to go into production in 2011, but those plans have been scrapped for right now.

“Personally I would love to have a sporty car,” said Carter, “but it is pretty clear what the market is looking for right now.” He also said that car buyers today are looking for more “high-quality, fuel-efficient, low-impact-environmental products.” As a result, Toyota hybrids are becoming a higher priority in future model lineups.

Isn’t it about time that you invested in a hybrid car? If you haven’t checked one out lately, it’s time to get on the bandwagon and see why more and more car buyers are turning to hybrids.
